"I Stand Amazed in the Presence"

I am always affected by worship at church on Sunday mornings, but yesterday I was especially affected by Charles H. Gabriel's hymn "I Stand Amazed in the Presence!" Not only does it remind me of my beloved mother whose faith was immeasurable, but it also reminded me of my sin and the amazing grace God has given me in His Son!! Here are the words. Don't just read over them. Take heart to the meaning of the words. We are sinners who have received the most amazing gift in Christ and are now considered righteous before God. May you be as affected as I am!!

"I Stand Amazed in the Presence" by Charles H. Gabriel

I stand amazed in the presence
Of Jesus the Nazarene
And I wonder how He could love me,
A sinner condemned, unclean.

Chorus:
How marvelous, how wonderful
And my song shall ever be.
How marvelous, how wonderful
Is my Savior's love for me.

For me it was in the garden He prayed,
"Not my will, but thine"
He had no tears for His own griefs,
But sweat drops of blood for mine.

He took my sins and my sorrows,
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv'ry,
And suffered and died alone.

When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see,
'Twill be my joy thro' the ages,
To sing of His love for me.

Thank you, Lord!!

You know, when we sing this at church I can still "hear" Mom singing it. Our worship leader has been adding alot of "old" worship songs on Sunday mornings and they bring back so many wonderful and precious memories of Mom, Woodland Acres and FBC and our younger years. Aaahhh, sigh! I'm getting old!!!
